EEG
Biofeedback (also called Neurofeedback) is
brain-wave training, that corrects for brain dysregulation and instabilities
associated with paroxysmal (unexplained, sudden) pain episodes (neuralgia, migraine, and
fibromyalgia, for example), muscle tension, sciatica, and chronic nerve pain
common in cases of complex regional pain syndrome. Awake-state training of EEG Biofeedback is effective at
addressing the constellation of pain-related brain functions involved in an
individual's pain threshold, obsessive thinking or stuck focus on pain,
emotional reactivity, anger, or fear, as well as the chronic muscle tension
commonly seen with bracing as a response to pain. Deep-state training allows for psychological resolution of
the emotional consequences of pain.
The benefit of brain-wave training is evident in a reduction of target
symptoms as well as in an improvement of physiological self-regulation,
functioning, and quality of life.
